LUCERNE VALLEY - A magnitude 3.6 earthquake rattled Lucerne Valley and Big Bear Sunday morning.
The same area was rocked by a 2.4 magnitude aftershock two-and-a-half minutes later.
According to analysts at the Caltech Seismological Laboratory in Pasadena, the epicenter of the earthquake was just .6 kilometers from the Helendale fault, which runs through Lucerne Valley, making the strength feel much stronger than 3.6 to many. Still, analyst Ben Wu said there were no reports of damage. He said that of the 70 reports residents made to their Web site, the strongest was a “level 4,” which refers to light shaking.
“It was considered to be a pretty small earthquake and shaking was pretty light,” Wu said.
A San Bernardino County Sheriff's dispatcher said there have been no reports of damage or injury.
