Pool and shuffleboard tournaments are coming up this month at the Cool Center in Lucerne Valley.

The pool tournament will be held Monday, Aug. 8 at 12:30 p.m., with 14 players competing for the grand prize of 20 lottery tickets. Organizers said the field for this tournament is full, but there will be another one in September.

The shuffleboard tournament on Aug. 12 had eight entrants as of last week and will accept four more.

Any adult can enter the tournaments for free, but organizers said they would give priority to people who regularly use the Cool Center.

Daily refreshments and several activities are offered free of charge, including a Nintendo Wii video game console, board games, movies and more.
