APPLE VALLEY • Friends of Brian Lynn are planning a memorial poker run though the High Desert on Sunday to support Lynn's family.
Lynn, owner of the Slash-X Ranch Cafe on Highway 247 south of Barstow, was killed Aug. 18 when his pickup truck collided with another vehicle on Highway 247, leaving his wife Gayle seriously injured.
The poker run is open to all types of vehicles at a cost of $20 per driver and $5 per passenger, which includes free barbecue hot dogs and hamburgers at the end of the run. Raffle and 50-50 drawing tickets will be offered at $1 apiece.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Iron Hog in Oro Grande. The run will start promptly at 10 a.m., proceeding to Hooz on First in Barstow, the Slash-X, the Y Saloon in Lucerne Valley and finally the Cadillac Ranch in Apple Valley, which will host the meal and live entertainment.
Preregistration is available at the Cadillac Ranch until the close of business on Saturday. Organizers are still looking for raffle donations. For details, call the Cadillac Ranch at (760) 247-7060.
