VICTORVILLE • A judge announced last Friday that the sentencing for a man charged with attempting to rob Lucerne Valley Liquor will continue later this month.
Phillip Charles Brown, 21, appeared in Victorville court Friday with his left forearm bandaged. But his attorney, Bill Figuero, asked to delay the sentencing to March 19 and Brown agreed.
Brown is accused of entering Lucerne Valley Liquor in the 32000 block of Old Woman Springs Road on the night of Dec. 22, showing a handgun and demanding money. A store clerk, however, drew a handgun and fired three rounds, hitting Brown in the wrist and buttocks, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said.
Brown pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and use of a firearm and is expected to be sentenced to seven years in prison.
His accomplice, Robert Charles Kerns, 23, was sentenced to 16 months in prison a day earlier, but Brown reportedly couldn’t show up that day due to a transportation mix-up.
