EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the first installment of a new feature that will honor outstanding school staff members and students in Lucerne Valley. This month’s Lucerne Valley Elementary School staff member of the month is teacher Vici Miller. In future editions, The Leader will also honor outstanding staff members and students from Lucerne Valley High School.
Miller was selected by her fellow teachers, and the following testimonial was written by LVES Principal Mary Eller:
Vici Miller is a rare commodity in our community. She is a woman of character and integrity who gives every ounce of herself to the children of Lucerne Valley. She has lived in Lucerne Valley for many years and has worked at Lucerne Valley Elementary School for over five years.
As a teacher she serves students in her classroom as well as any other student that needs help across the campus. Speaking with other teachers, she searches out students that may need extra help.
Her service doesn’t end at the close of the school day either; many parents’ phone numbers are saved in Miller’s cell phone because she checks up with her charges in their home lives as well.
As a staff member, Miller goes way beyond the call of duty. She is of invaluable assistance to me, taking on tasks to help out, even without being asked. She willingly stays after hours to help prepare for school-wide events and takes part in curriculum preparations for the whole staff while offering to help any in need.
Hers is often the first car in the parking lot in the mornings and the last to leave in the evenings. I am pleased that she was elected staff member of the month by her peers.
