FROM STAFF AND SUBMITTED REPORTS
The Lucerne Valley High School FFA program put up a strong performance at a public speaking event in Littlerock earlier this month.
Lucerne Valley FFA sent 18 members — one novice team and two advanced teams — to the town in the Antelope Valley area to compete in an Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest, a public speaking team event.
The novice team finished first overall with Nambi Boyd and Evelyn Mondragon placing first individually in their respective positions, president and treasurer.
In the advanced category, the teams placed second and fourth out of nine competing teams, and Corey Gibson placed first individually as treasurer.
The members of the novice team also participated in the B.I.G. (Best Informed Greenhand) contest, with Marissa Matlock placing fifth and Nambi Boyd taking fourth overall.
