LUCERNE VALLEY — Board members also announced the hiring of a new principal for the Lucerne Valley Middle/ High School at the most recent board meeting.
Michael P. Murphy, Ph.D. will be the new principal of the Lucerne Valley Middle/High School.
Dr. Murphy has been a middle school principal with the Snowline Joint Unified School District for the past two years, according to a statement from the Lucerne Valley Unified School District Board.
Murphy has also worked for Chapman University as an adjunct professor, Apple Valley Unified School District as an assistant principal and the Apple Valley Unified School District and Alta Loma School District as a teacher, according to the Board.
“Murphy has been successful in raising API scores and brings a successful and innovative approach to helping students succeed,” said Board Member Jean Morgan.
In the hiring process, the interview committee included administrative and teaching staff, and a member of the community, board members said.
Dr. Murphy is to replace Franz Halamicek, who stepped into the position of interim principal mid-year.
